Kacey finished school a month or so ago and is working part-time as an auto tech for a major dealership here in town.
Sara just convinced me to buy a new bit of workout gear - a Total Gym XLS. It should be here Wednesday. The whole family will use it, and I will make the effort to use it myself. Hopefully I'll be in far better shape by this time next year, and perhaps will have lost some weight. Since May I've lost 10 lbs (down to 255), but I would really love to be around 200. We'll see how that works out over the next few years.
Toby is doing well, he hasn't gotten snippy with anyone that didn't deserve it for the past year or so. What does that mean? It means that about a month ago I nearly got bitten and he did snarl and snap at me. He was eating - he started turning his head upwards and working his jaw - he had a piece of food stuck in his cheek. I used to help Maggie with this all the time, so I grabbed his jaw and gently massaged the food out of his cheek. Just for a second I forgot this was TOBY, not Maggie.
So yes, he snarled and snapped and was quite upset - but just for a second, then he got over it and apologized (as I did). Totally my fault. Some dogs you can do that with, some you cannot. :)
Overall Toby is doing wonderfully - behavior and health are both fine. His back seems to be OK, but we still worry, and I expect he'll re-injure it again, we just try to keep him from doing things that might hurt it. The tumor on his back seems to have stopped growing, I don't think it hurts him, but we are watching for signs of distress. He is still lonely and howls when we leave. But I really don't want to get another dog. He'll just have to adjust. ;)
