I just downloaded BeatrIX Linux, which is receiving good reviews from some Linux websites. It is a smaller distribution which fits on mini-CDs (200mb) and runs as a Live CD using the Knoppix hardware recognition code. It is a Debian/Ubuntu derivative running on the 2.6 kernel, and includes the major apps from the Ubuntu distribution, just cut down and streamlined. Gnome-based (like Ubuntu) but Knoppix-powered.
Should be a nice addition to my toolkit - Knoppix is very useful, but perhaps I can get Beatrix installed to boot from my 512mb USB key.
