With all the furor over West Nile and the Mosquito Menace, I found an old birdbath hidden under a bush in the backyard. Never knew it was there until we began planning to remove the bush, so looked into it to see how big, etc. This birdbath was brimming over with black slime and rotten leaves and such - and likely serving as the incubator for all of the skeeters on the east coast. I turned it over and sprayed all the muck with poison, then hosed down the birdbath and put it out for the trash this morning. Can't wait until the landscaping begins.
We are having all of the large unwieldy bushes removed from the front and back yards, replacing them with far smaller plantings and trees. Should be quite a change!
